Grassroots & Organizing Internship

Have you ever wondered how change happens? Ever wonder if you could be a part of something that will improve the lives of billions around the world? It all starts here.

Jubilee USA Network offers internships on our Outreach & Organizing team each academic semester (fall, spring and summer). They are for qualified individuals with an expressed interest in working on debt cancellation and other issues of global justice. Internships at Jubilee provide an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience with public education, grassroots organizing, communications, policy and advocacy work.

As an intern at Jubilee USA you will work with the senior staff and fellows of Jubilee USA.

A Jubilee intern will work closely with the National Field Organizer (NFO) and the Outreach Fellow on education, outreach, research, advocacy and communications projects:

  • Assist in outreach to Jubilee's grassroots community, through phone calls, email communication and meetings.
  • Data entry: Entering information on new and existing supporters in the database and listservs
  • Office functions: Assist with mailings and other related administrative work to support Jubilee's grassroots, development, communications and policy activities
  • Help with planning and implementation of monthly grassroots conference call
  • Attend Jubilee USA meetings, coalition events and related conferences

Usually, an intern will work primarily with the Outreach team. However, because we are a small office Jubilee interns are exposed to all aspects of our work and you will likely have opportunities to work with all members of our staff team during your time with us.

Jubilee USA internships are unpaid, though a transportation stipend can be arranged. Arrangements can also be made to enable the intern to receive academic credit for the experience.

Applicants should have strong persuasive written and verbal skills, attention to detail, a passion for working on global justice issues, and have knowledge of issues of debt and economic globalization. Familiarity with computer programs such as MS Access, Excel, and Word, is desired, and the ability to work as part of a team is necessary.

A time commitment of at least 25 hours per week is preferred and we give priority to applicants who can work as close to full time as possible. Interns can arrange time off for personal and academic commitments such as holidays and exams.

Please submit your resume and cover letter with the subject line "Application for Grassroots Intern" via email to Carly Pildis at carly@jubileeusa.org.
