Marie Dennis
Marie Dennis is director of the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns, vice president of Pax Christi International and a Pax Christi USA Ambassador of Peace. She was recently elected co-president of Pax Christi International, a position she will share with Archbishop Laurent Monsengwo from the DR Congo. She is the first lay person to be elected to that position since Pax Christi was founded in 1945.
Marie holds a masters degree in moral theology from Washington Theological Union and is co-author or author of six books, including St. Francis and the Foolishness of God and Like Grains of Wheat. She is a lay woman, a mother of six, a grandmother, a secular Franciscan and a member of Assisi Community in Washington DC.
Marie now serves on the Coordinating Committee of the Jubilee USA Network; the Board of Directors of the Washington Office on Africa and the International Relations Center; the Steering Committee of the Catholic Peacebuilding Network; the Advisory Committee of Orbis Books; and as a Contributing Editor to Sojourners magazine.
She has lectured at many universities, conferences, workshops, parishes and high schools over the past 30 years on topics ranging from Catholic Social Teaching to Jubilee, globalization to peacemaking, economic justice to US policy in Latin America.
