Write a thank you letter that summarizes your important points from the meeting and send any extra information requested. Congratulations! You've begun a relationship with your Member of Congress! Now you can refer to your meeting the next time you call the office. As mentioned above, sometimes more persistent follow up may be necessary, after the initial thank you note. If your local staffer has not been receptive, you can try calling the relevant staffer in the Washington, DC office. While the first meeting is important, establishing a relationship does not usually result from one meeting, but rather through regular, consistent contact over time.  So be persistent! Always remember, you are their constituent.
