December 3, 2008 | Jubilee USA Network has developed policy recommendations for the Obama transition team. These recommendations have been submitted to the Obama transition team for their consideration.
The recommendations in the attached document are mainly directed at the US Department of Treasury / International Affairs division. The issues addressed in the document include: policy towards multilateral development banks and the IMF, poor country debt relief, and sustainable and responsible lending policies for poor countries.
The recommendations in the attached document are endorsed by a wide range of non-governmental organizations and religious institutions, including Africa Action, American Jewish World Service, Church World Service, Concerned Africa Scholars, The Episcopal Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Institute for Policy Studies – Global Economy Project, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the Maryknoll Office of Global Concerns, Mennonite Central Committee, Micah Challenge, the NAACP, the Presbyterian Church USA, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, Results, Sojourners, TransAfrica Forum, United Church of Christ Justice and Witness Ministries, and the United Methodist Church Board of Church and Society.
