Call the Senate: Support Debt Relief, Vaccines and Pandemic Response Aid

Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your Senators. You will need to call twice to reach each of your US Senators. The switchboard is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to leave a message for your Senator.

If you need help finding your Senators, you can ask the Capitol Switchboard attendant by telling them in what state you reside or use this link.

Once you are connected to your Senator's office, ask to leave a time-sensitive message for your Senator.

"Thank you for taking my call. I live in your state, my name and address is______________. Because of the pandemic, poverty and job loss are growing problems in developing countries and for US trading partners. The economic impacts of the pandemic on developing countries continue to cause supply and economic shocks in the US. In upcoming budget votes, please support debt relief and Special Drawing Rights pandemic response aid. As your office is aware debt relief for developing countries remains a strong bipartisan issue. Presidents Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden all support extending debt relief for developing countries. As my Senator please support:

1.) Debt relief to aid developing countries deal with the health and economic effects of the COVID crisis and recover with resilience.

2.) Budget requests for developing countries that need increased resources to fight the pandemic. Please support budget requests that include getting IMF Special Drawing Rights reserves to developing countries. This won’t cost taxpayers anything and won’t increase debt in vulnerable countries. As China is stepping up aid to these countries, US aid remains critical for promoting democracy abroad.

3.) Funding for COVID vaccines and treatments for people in developing countries so we can end the pandemic everywhere and stop new virus variants that could affect us all. Thank-you."
